TELUS Spark Science Centre

TELUS Spark's Feature Exhibits
TELUS Spark Science Centre is a science museum with interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations and educational demonstrations in CalgaryAlbertaCanada. There are more than 430,000 visitors annually, including over 82,000 students.newest up-and-coming special attractions, events and offerings from SparkScience.
Apart from their regular exhibits, Spark regularly has special feature exhibits are that often highlight a specific theme, topic, or collection. These exhibits are designed to capture visitors' attention and provide an in-depth exploration of a particular subject. Feature exhibits may include interactive displays, multimedia presentations, unique artifacts, or immersive experiences that distinguish them from the rest of the museum's offerings. These showcases are usually temporary and may change periodically to keep the museum's content fresh and engaging for visitors.
Feature exhibits play a crucial role in enhancing the overall visitor experience and are carefully curated to align with the museum's mission and educational goals.
The magic of feature exhibits unfolds behind the scenes, where internal teams collaboratively craft memorable user experiences.  Inspired by this story,  the goal was to demystify these collaborative processes through a data visualization that not only portrayed the intricate connections among teams but also serves as a practical tool for future planning and reflection. Focusing on creating a relevant system map, we delved into the unseen complexities of feature exhibit planning and execution. Despite them being temporary, these exhibits demand meticulous planning and coordination across diverse Spark teams.
"How do various teams collaboratively work towards planning, developing and displaying feature exhibits to engage visitors."
The resulting data visualization, resembling a non-ribbon chord diagram, elegantly captured team relationships, tasks, and collaborative intersections. Beyond its aesthetics, the interactive map empowers teams to navigate information effortlessly and opens up new avenues for post-exhibit analysis.
This visualization stands not just as a snapshot of teamwork dynamics but as a living resource. Teams can leverage it for future planning, identifying areas of improvement, and showcasing progress over time. By shedding light on the collaborative spirit at TELUS Spark, this project adds a practical tool to the arsenal of teams dedicated to delivering captivating user experiences.
